Akali is preparing to join the cast of 2XKO

After several years of developing its two-on-two fighting game, Riot Games has finally officially released 2XKO at the beginning of 2026. Even though several beta test phases or even early access last October have already allowed the collection of feedback from players, the development team continues to listen to the community to improve the formula. In addition to this, they are committed to enriching it over time by adding new characters. On April 8, 2026, we will welcome Akali. 

A rebellious assassin who relies on her mobility

Masterless assassin, Akali left the Kinkou order to dedicate herself to a single mission: defending Ionia, the island-nation northeast of Noxus. This involves eliminating all enemies who would harm its inhabitants. For this, she can rely on her speed. Riot Games announces that Akali will be the fastest character in the game. A good mastery of her combos could allow taking advantage over the opponent. On the other hand, she has fewer health points, making her more vulnerable. In other words, the best defense will be the attack. 

She can rely on her nebulous shroud, a sort of smoke screen that enhances her attacks or even gives new properties to some. A little bonus, if the nebulous shroud is activated and she runs, she can pass through the opposing champion. Of course, she can also rely on her faithful Kunais to inflict additional damage. If you want a preview of her moveset, Riot Games has just released a gameplay trailer highlighting her agility and the variety of her attacks. Enough to get a feel before you can learn to master her from April 8, 2026, both on PC and on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. 2XKO is not a title that came out of nowhere. It is a project carried by Riot Games that was initiated in 2019 under the name Project L. It aimed to offer a two-on-two fighting game featuring characters and other elements from the prestigious League of Legends license. After more than six years of development, the project has materialized. Officially, it has been available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S since January 20, 2026. Even if the cast seems a bit light with only a dozen fighters, it must be recognized that this detail is very quickly forgotten.

Why? Because each fighter has their own abilities and style. We haven't so it doesn't feel like playing a simple skin of another character. In fact, it takes a certain investment before you can master one. The integrated duo system adds a significant strategic aspect. The icing on the cake, the game is free. So there's no reason not to at least try it, especially since it has many qualities that allow it not to blush in front of the big names in the field.
