Activision presents a preview of the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Campaign and dates the beta

In less than three months, Activision will allow fans of the Call of Duty (CoD) franchise to discover the brand-new installment of the Modern Warfare series. Since its revelation on May 29, 2026, the publisher has continuously communicated (partnership with Aston Martin, revelation of the Kill Block mode) about this Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 which will be released on October 23 on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and even Nintendo Switch 2. While waiting to get a controller, joycons, or a keyboard and mouse combo in hand, the American company unveils a preview of the Campaign and communicates some important dates, including those of the beta which will allow you to try the game before its official release.

A campaign with very cinematic looks

The Campaign mode of a CoD is a little treat that we often take the time to savor before diving into multiplayer mode, if not between two games. The proposal aims to project us onto the battlefield by highlighting action, action, and more action. Some missions remain memorable, like the airport one from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. We must admit, we generally dive into it with pleasure to enjoy epic moments and a cinematic staging that dazzles the eyes. With Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, we should also have our share of intense passages. Just watching the preview of the first mission, Losing Ground, quickly makes this clear. Fire, explosions, flying debris, the lack of light that increases the level of enemy threat...

Everything is there to put players under pressure and is in line with the promise of offering a darker and more threatening universe. This is good news, as this mission will be playable in early access starting October 16. The only condition will be to have pre-ordered a digital version of the game. As a reminder, the scenario will address what happened to Captain Price. He is now an outlaw driven by a single desire: revenge. Meanwhile, players will embody Park, a young South Korean soldier trying to survive the large-scale invasion led by North Korea.

Two beta phases to test the multiplayer

Before being able to try the Campaign in early access, players will be able to test the multiplayer through two beta test phases. If you have pre-ordered your game on PC, PlayStation 5, or Xbox Series X|S, then you will have access to the beta from August 21 to August 25. Otherwise, everyone (even those playing on Nintendo Switch 2) will be able to join the open beta that will take place between August 28 and September 1. For this occasion, several operators will be part of the event, including all those from the Weapon Vault edition. Of course, you will be able to enjoy several Multiplayer modes and have the opportunity to discover many maps as the publisher specifies.

Finally, those who want to see and know more about the game will be able to attend Call of Duty: NEXT on August 21. The global event will provide a preview of the gameplay and reveal the content that will be deployed in Multiplayer mode. As a bonus, members of the development team will speak for some revelations.
