October 23rd is an important date in the gaming calendar of 2026 as it is associated with the official release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4. As the May revelation suggests, this year's edition promises to be exceptional. With the scripted campaign offering great cinematic moments, the multiplayer mode expected to engage players for several months, the DMZ mode adding an extra experience, and Kill Block promising to make each game different, the anticipation is huge. However, Activision has planned a nice surprise: a beta test phase to allow early enjoyment of the game. Here's the menu prepared by the chef Infinity Ward, to be served from August 21st.
Solo in the beta!
Activision had announced it, the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 beta will consist of two phases. The first, starting on August 21st and lasting until the 25th of the same month, will be accessible to all players who have pre-ordered their copy on PC, PlayStation 5, or Xbox Series X|S. The second, taking place from August 28th to September 1st, will be an open beta phase. Everyone will have access, even players with a Nintendo Switch 2. We already knew all this. However, what we didn't know was the content of these two accesses. Hold on tight, it's a very nice surprise, in both cases, it will be possible to enjoy the exclusive Entrenched mission of the solo Campaign. As its name suggests, it will invite you to discover the hell of war in the trenches.
A promising glimpse of the multiplayer
During early access to the beta, which will take place between August 21st and 25th, players will be able to enjoy five maps offering 6 vs 6 battles, namely Rooftops, Silkworm, Transit 213, Cachette, and Lotus. Whether in Team Deathmatch, Domination, Kill Confirmed, Hardpoint, or Search and Destroy, all opportunities will be good to explore these maps. That's not all, as this beta phase will also allow the discovery of the new Inflation mode.
This mode stands out by relying on a simple principle: the more kills you chain, the more money you earn, and the more you become a priority and visible target for the opponent. Of course, the Kill Block experience will also be part of the 10 vs 10 or 3 vs 3 battles. As you know, this specific map is composed of three blocks that combine differently in each game. The development team already promises more than 500 variations.

Then, during the open beta phase, which will be held from August 28 to September 1 and will be accessible to everyone, including those playing on Nintendo Switch 2, Activision will still allow access to the single-player Campaign mission. On the multiplayer side, we will find the same maps as those of the early access, with one exception, Lotus giving way to Lithium. The highly anticipated Kill Block experience will still be part of it. Additionally, this open beta will allow you to discover the Zodiac map in Warzone mode (in Resurgence) and enjoy the Imjin Farmland and Wolves Stadium maps in Ground War mode. Finally, to get you ready for the big day, Activision has released a video showcasing the gameplay of the Multiplayer part of the game. We won't be getting bored!
