Time is ticking, and the release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is fast approaching. While the Campaign of this new installment has been much talked about, we must not forget that players will also be able to dive into the multiplayer mode from October 23, not to mention the DMZ mode and the Kill Block mode. Activision is even anticipating the arrival of Season 1 and specifies that there will be two major impacts for those active in Call of Duty: Warzone. We explain.

Now you see me, now you don't

Call of Duty: Warzone is the free-to-play experience of the franchise that leans towards Battle Royale. It evolves in parallel with the releases of the main games of the franchise. The current version is about to celebrate its fourth anniversary and, each year, with every new release, it has received an update to integrate content related to the latest title. As such, it brings together operators, weapons, and universes from several games, including Black Ops. With the arrival of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, Activision wants to allow those who wish to harmonize the gaming experience. In other words, the development team wants to align Warzone content more closely with that of the upcoming MW4.

Since the publisher does not wish to impose this harmonized vision on everyone, Raven Software, the studio primarily responsible for Warzone, will simply add an option. Scheduled to be deployed with Season 1 of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, this option will allow players to choose between enabling or disabling the operator appearance in Warzone. The option will be disabled by default, encouraging players to enjoy the diversity of operators and weapons. If someone chooses to enable it, it will have an effect on three different levels.

Firstly, for oneself. In this case, if the player equips an operator from a previous installment, they will see this operator and it will not be replaced by an MW4 operator. Secondly, at the enemy level, any operator used by an opponent not from MW4 will be replaced by an MW4 operator, both in the lobby and in-game. Thirdly, whether in groups or squads, anyone with the option enabled will see their allies with an MW4 operator instead of the operator (from a previous installment) chosen by another member.

The Carry Forward Plans will be activated

In parallel with this new option that will give more control over the visual rendering of Call of Duty: Warzone, the development team will redeploy the Carry Forward feature. In other words, players will be able to continue accessing their weapons from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II to Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 thanks to a Legacy system. To access it, simply go to the Loadout menu, then the Legacy tab. The weapons will then be compatible with the accessories. It will be possible to equip up to five. The downside is that the Gunsmith functionality and previous custom loadouts will be disabled. The goal here is to ensure a certain continuity while guaranteeing that the weapon meta fits within the continuation of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4. Of course, the development team will be attentive to community feedback and already promises to balance the weapons every two weeks.
