Arcane is the Netflix event series that allows viewers to immerse themselves in the universe of League of Legends, whether they are familiar with it or not. It is also a gem of animation that showcases all the expertise of Fortiche Production. This is fortunate, as the Parisian studio has just produced the music video for the song "Ma Meilleure Ennemie" by Stromae and Pomme, which is taken from season 2.
A video with heart
After an excellent Season 1, the Arcane series was granted a Season 2 last November. To ride on the resounding success of this adaptation that has won over fans of League of Legends, as well as those unfamiliar with the license, Riot Games has multiplied references to the animated series' characters in ongoing and upcoming projects. Thus, we learned a few months ago that Jinx will be part of the cast of 2XKO, the fighting game set in the LoL universe.
This time, it is not a new project focused on video games that Riot Games is offering us to discover. This March, we are invited to watch the music video for the song "Ma Meilleure Ennemie" performed by Stromae and Pomme. The latter is taken from the original soundtrack of Season 2 of the series, which you can listen to in its entirety on Spotify. For your information, it is composed of 22 tracks featuring renowned international artists, including Imagine Dragons, Twenty One Pilots, and Woodkid.
A success but not only…
The music video was co-produced by Alex Seaver (executive producer of the soundtrack) and Luc Van Haver. Tom Gouill, from Fortiche Production, directed it. The artistic direction was handled by Pascal Charrue, Arnaud Delord, and Bart Maunoury. To give the video emotional depth, the teams mixed live-action shots with animation sequences. The result is the recreation of the dance scene between Jinx and Ekko, echoing episode 7 of Season 2.
In terms of numbers, the original soundtrack is enjoying a resounding success, amassing over 1.3 billion streams worldwide. As for the song "Ma Meilleure Ennemie," it records more than 10 million streams per day, earning it a spot in the top 3 global Spotify charts.
Let's conclude with a few words from the artists involved in the project. Stromae stated: "When I saw the scene for the first time, I found it quite poetic [...] I understood the vision the directors and all the animators of the series had. They clearly knew what they wanted... I found that the music and the rest fit well, especially since it's quite a crucial moment." Pomme, for her part, indicated: "Even today, it's a song that remains present in people's lives, and I find what happened to be truly magical... I perfectly understood the public's reaction and enthusiasm, as there was a kind of beauty, romance, and softness that is quite rare in the series."
