Fortnite issues a bug alert, the Power Rangers arrive

Fortnite lance une alerte aux insectes, les Power Rangers débarquent
FortniteAug 7, 20254 min read

Attention to entomophobes playing Fortnite Battle Royale, the new Chapter of Season 4 is going to give you cold sweats. Indeed, the island welcomes new not-so-friendly visitors today, namely insects. Of course, to prevent their proliferation, the O.X.R., the anti-insect defense force, is on duty. In addition to that, this Chapter 6 of Season 4 allows for the introduction of content related to a cult license: Power Rangers.

A real infestation

In the real world, summer is often synonymous with mosquitoes. So we start a kind of war against these creatures that, in addition to sucking our blood, disturb our nights with their annoying noises. On Fortnite's Battle Royale island, the threat is even worse. This time, it's swarms of insects infesting the areas. Forget repellents, sprays, creams, and other natural weapons, in Insect Alert, Chapter 6 of Season 4, you have to bring out the heavy artillery.

Fortunately, the O.X.R., the anti-insect defense force, is on alert. To annihilate the vermin, it can rely on a new arsenal specially developed for the occasion. Get ready to handle the Megaplumber 3000 minigun, the sweeper shotgun, the O.X.R. rifle, the devastating revolver, and the guided laser missile launcher Swarm, in addition to the bombardment arm that fires plasma projectiles. Another surprise will arrive during the season... You know, Epic Games likes to set up collaborations, as was recently the case with the integration of Godzilla and Kong or with content dedicated to Squid Game. This time, it's the Power Rangers, specialists in monster confrontations, who are called upon. As a result, the arsenal will be enriched with the iconic Blade Blaster from the license. Rapid shots or charged shots for powerful bursts, it will be up to you to choose.

Is that not enough for you? No problem, the development team thought of adding some exotic weapons. However, to get the eradicator rifle, the Armed and Ready shotguns, the slowing shockwave launcher, the precise eradicator devastating revolver, or the exotic slap fizz, you will need to fulfill two conditions. The first will be to reach rank A of the O.X.R. The second will be to go to the bunkers, the only places that will house this arsenal. Finally, to perfect your entire equipment, besides new blessings, you can discover the hammerhead Choppa. Its support will arrive a little later in the season, but this helicopter will allow you to quickly switch between the driver's seat and the one for using the cannon. With this, you can take advantage of the swarm creatures.

Key locations, enemies to identify

Now that you know the equipment that will allow you to face those pesky creatures, it's time to discover where they hide and what forms they take. As its name strongly suggests, the swarm has taken up residence at The Hive. Needless to say, if you wish to go there, it's better to be properly equipped. To be sure you're ready for any eventuality, you can first stop by the O.X.R. HQ. This place houses the operations center, led by the intervention unit commander, and the armory. Then, you can head towards Ranger’s Ruin. As its name indicates, this place belonged to the Rangers. It was more precisely a weapons laboratory. However, the insects have invaded it. Caution is therefore advised, but courage will be rewarded with quality loot.

Before venturing anywhere, it's better to know your enemies. This allows you to know how to eliminate them efficiently. Basically, you will encounter Crawlers. No significant resistance to expect, but these little creatures can quickly outnumber you if you don't do what's necessary to get rid of them quickly. Near the nests, you will encounter slightly tougher creatures. Named Bombardiers, these send out slime. Besides the unpleasant aspect of it, the worst part is that they are sneaky. They have the ability to burrow underground to reappear behind you. In short, if you see a Bombardier digging, take a step or two forward and turn around. Finally, the ultimate insect, the danger among dangers, is the Queen. Beware, contrary to what one might think, there are several of them. To lure them out of their hole, you need to purge a nest. Once this is done, they will simply try to take revenge by pulverizing you, calling their entire family for help.

From the battle pass to the shop: Halo, the Power Rangers

It's the rule, when a new Chapter is deployed, a new Battle Pass accompanies it. And, as usual, this includes both free and so-called Premium rewards. Among these, we notably find the outfits of Yoo-mi (an idol), Agent Patch, combat gamer Maé, Lieutenant Ripp Slade, General Onyx Winter, and the famous Green Ranger. The Halo franchise also makes an appearance as the UNSC Spartan outfit is included in the bonus rewards. If you don't want to pay to obtain it, know that you will be able to get it for free. For this, you will need to wait until August 26 and reach level 100. As a cherry on top, Pass holders will be able to complete quests starting September 16 to unlock the amalgamated Dino Megazord outfit.

Finally, starting tomorrow, fans of the Power Rangers who don't want to settle for the Green Ranger can head to the shop. They will then have the pleasant surprise of being able to acquire the Mighty Morphin pack, which includes the outfits of the other Rangers, namely blue, pink, red, yellow, and black. Of course, they will also obtain their accessories and the Go Go Power Rangers music track.
