While many players continue to immerse themselves in the captivating worlds of League of Legends and Valorant, Riot Games is preparing to dazzle the gaming community once again with a new gem. Titled 2XKO, this game promises to add a new genre to Riot's portfolio, versus fighting. Although the official release date has not yet been announced, fans won't have to wait long to try it, as an exclusive playtest is scheduled for August 8. Here's what we know.

An exclusive preview on August 8

During the announcement of 2XKO, Riot Games surprised everyone by unveiling its new little jewel. The surprise didn't stop there, as last June a date for a playtest was announced. This is a unique opportunity for players to enter the arena and test the game before it even becomes available. The playtest will begin on August 8 and will be accessible to a limited number of handpicked participants. The game will be available on PC and consoles, offering a smooth gaming experience regardless of the chosen platform.

What to expect during the playtest

2XKO is described as a fast-paced competitive fighting game, blending innovative game mechanics and stunning graphics. Playtest participants will have the opportunity to discover:

  • A variety of characters: Players can choose from a range of fighters straight from the summoner's rift, with unique fighting styles and special abilities, like Darius, Ahri, or even Braum who was recently announced. Each of them has been designed to offer a varied and dynamic gaming experience.

  • Captivating battle arenas: The game offers several arenas with animated environments featuring the inhabitants of Runeterra. Each arena will be inspired by the universe of League Of Legends, where you can find Bilgewater, Noxus, and many other regions, and it's up to you to recognize them.

  • Innovative game modes: In addition to the traditional combat mode, 2XKO will introduce a 2v2 mode that will test players' strategy and cooperation.

A promise of innovation

Riot Games is no stranger to creating groundbreaking titles, and 2XKO seems to follow this tradition. This game, distinguished by its innovative approach to the fighting genre, promises to captivate both newcomers and veterans of the Riot universe. The publisher has also assured that this playtest will be just the beginning of many surprises to come.

An open beta on the horizon

For those who won't have the chance to participate in the August 8 playtest, all hope is not lost. Riot Games has announced an open beta scheduled for September. This beta will allow a wider audience to try the game and help fine-tune the final adjustments before the official launch.

Fighting game enthusiasts can already start preparing for the 2XKO experience. This new genre by Riot Games will allow a new community of players to discover Runeterra. Make sure to keep an eye on the updates and don't miss the chance to join the action during the open beta. Meanwhile, let the countdown begin for the playtest on August 8!
