At the end of 2023, Epic Games collaborated with other development studios to integrate new experiences into the Fortnite universe. In addition to the Fortnite Festival, which features Lady Gaga as part of its Season 2 and LEGO Fortnite, which has just integrated fishing, there is Rocket Racing, the racing game developed in collaboration with Psyonix, the studio behind Rocket League. The update 28.30 that has just been deployed gives a boost to season 0 by adding a Speed Run mode.

The clock, the most uncompromising of opponents

In a racing game, the rule is simple, you have to be the best, the fastest compared to your competitors. But there is a mode that requires facing the most ruthless of opponents: the Time Trial. It is precisely this, Speed Run mode in Shakespeare's language, that has just been added to Rocket Racing as part of the update 28.30. This time, do not try to be faster than other players, you need to achieve the best possible time on track variations, including Riviera, Anaconda, and Olympus. It's up to you to take advantage of the several minutes on the clock to complete as many laps as possible to find the perfect trajectory.

Even if you play in public or private matches, rest assured, collisions are disabled to allow you to focus on your goal. The consequence is that drafting is not taken into account and the starting line turbos are disabled. To help you achieve the best possible lap, the developers have integrated a ghost that allows you to see the trajectory adopted during your best run. This offers the possibility to spot mistakes and correct them to shave off precious seconds. Finally, the best time on the track is reported on a season leaderboard. Enough to motivate players to try again and again to climb a few places. A friends leaderboard is also included to see your level compared to your (soon-to-be ex-)friends.

Quests, a car, and more

Beyond the personal challenge offered by a Time Trial mode, the developers have added a quest system to encourage fans to keep playing. You have until March 26, 2024, to unlock the Sprintspark trail by completing the first quest and to unlock thirteen different colors for it with the other quests. The mobile version of the game has also been improved, with the HUD being redesigned and the touch directional pad replaced by a more precise touch joystick. Rocket League fans will easily recognize the Diestro car chassis that has just arrived in Fortnite. Available in Rocket Racing, it is offered in a pack with six associated decals. Note that if you have its chassis in Rocket League, you can retrieve it for free in your Fortnite locker. Conversely, if you purchase the pack in Fortnite, you will get the Diestro chassis in Rocket League. That's the power of multi-game ownership! As a bonus, by going through the store, you can get the Lustrum X10 wheel pack and the Xenosplash boost.
