Hello everyone, this is Quill from the Metropolis Chronicle with your gaming news bulletin. In this article, I will share my opinion on the new installment of the Assassin's Creed saga: Mirage. Available since last October 5th, many of you were eagerly awaiting the new adventures of the Assassin's Guild.
The game arrived with high ambitions and the developers promised us a much-anticipated return to the basics. We also knew from the start that this new installment would be shorter than the previous ones, but the choice was embraced by Ubisoft.
Everything was thus in place for the game to meet the expectations of players from all walks of life. But what is the reality?
Mirage
As a fan of the series, I was waiting for this game. While the saga as a whole had mostly convinced me, I hadn't finished all the episodes. My favorite so far remains Unity (released on November 11, 2014). So it was with pleasure that I embarked on the adventure by playing as Basim. As I mentioned earlier, my only expectation was to see if we were truly returning to the basics.
From the very first moments, I noticed that the game's focus is on parkour, much like the first installment of the saga. Basim is agile, fast, and easy to handle.
Lighter and more agile
Regarding weaponry, choices were also made. Indeed, Basim is not the walking armory that his predecessors could be. A considerably streamlined inventory and the choice to have only two weapons contrast with some previous episodes. Some may not have appreciated this stance, but I find this vision to be the most fitting for my idea of an assassin, especially a silent one.
A visual and auditory treat
I found this Assassin's Creed Mirage to be very graphically successful. Exploring Baghdad was a real visual treat. While some texture flaws may occasionally appear, the overall result is more than successful. This game also owes its success to its sound atmosphere, which I find very well-developed. The OST is available on all music streaming platforms.
Short story
We knew from the start that this new installment would be more condensed. But not at the expense of quality and gameplay experience. Indeed, it will only take about fifteen hours to complete this Mirage. While some were disappointed, I was not. I would even say the opposite. Being able to finish an AC rather quickly is something I really appreciated. The adventure was neither too long nor too difficult, although the stakes are complex.
Additional content
Many of you have already finished Basim's (too) short story and have moved on to explore other games. Many would also like additional content for these said adventures. Numerous people have recently read on the game's main menu: "Stay tuned for more adventures." That was enough to instantly set things ablaze. For some, it was obvious that Ubisoft would offer new quests in the coming weeks or months. And this despite Stéphane Boudon, creative director, stating that no DLC was planned. Has the team changed its mind..? I will keep you informed if anything concrete happens. So stay connected!
In conclusion, I would tell you that this Assassin's Creed: Mirage checks all the announced boxes. Once again, this is just my opinion and not a truth. That's all for today, but we'll meet again very soon for a new information bulletin. This was Quill wishing you a good day in Metropolis.
