The content of Grounded update 1.4 is revealed
Last month, Xbox reaffirmed its vision of opening part of its catalog to a wider audience by announcing the porting of four games to competing consoles. On April 16th, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch players will be able to discover Grounded, an adventure and survival game that focuses on cooperation to survive in a hostile environment: its garden. To best prepare for this event, Obsidian Entertainment will deploy a new update that will also be applied to the Xbox version of the game.
Ant colonies will have their Queen
Among the major new features of update 1.4, named Fully Yoked, is the introduction of a system of Ant Queens. More specifically, each of the three colonies will have its own Queen that can be befriended or betrayed. Be aware that your choice will have consequences as the entire colony will react. Of course, this will also affect the rewards you can earn. Even though the choice may seem quite binary at first, the developers assure that some repercussions won't always be easy to anticipate.
A New Game+ mode to transform the garden
Wendell has created the REMIX.R which will allow everyone to dive into an alternate dimension after defeating four bosses (the brood mother, the praying mantis, the wasp Queen, and Javamatic). In other words, you can embark on a New Game+ mode that will let you face faster, stronger creatures with unique abilities. The challenge will thus be heightened for those who enjoy a challenge. Each game will alter the garden and allow you to collect trinkets infused with Raw Science granting various character upgrades. Of course, you will need to continue searching for the milk teeth randomly scattered throughout the redesigned gardens. Finally, to upgrade your weapons, you will need to purchase the Yoking station via the Advanced System Library terminal. This will help you face the new challenges that await you.
Some additional new features
Beyond the two major new features presented, update 1.4 will mark the integration of Japanese voiceovers that can be activated via the options. Additionally, a new mutation will be included, as well as new baby ants and twelve buildings related to the Ant Queen. As planned, crossplay will also be possible to allow all players to play together, regardless of their gaming platform. Finally, know that the hosts of the games will be able to load a save at any time, smoothly transitioning all connected players into the new environment.
