Japanese culture blends with Fortnite Battle Royale in Chapter 6, Season 1

Fortnite Chapter 6
FortniteDec 2, 20243 min read

After a brief detour to introduce an unusual yet delightful novelty for fashion fans, namely the integration of shoes as cosmetic items, Epic Games returns to unveil the content of Season 1 of Chapter 6 of Fortnite's Battle Royale mode. A Japanese-inspired atmosphere awaits!

The monster hunt is on

Diversity is the key word guiding Epic Games' choices to constantly renew the Battle Royale experience of its Fortnite. To end the year well, players won't find a Christmas atmosphere but rather a universe inspired by Japan. Head to a new island steeped in Japanese culture to embody a ronin who must eliminate the demons hiding in this new playground.

Cherry blossoms, typical Japanese architecture, Fortnite fans will find all the traditional aspects, whether at Warrior’s Watch, Flooded Frogs, or Shogun’s Solitude. The map also brings more modern locations, like the commercial district of Seaport City or the Shining Span bridge. This new season adds a magical aspect, so there are also some more mystical places, such as the sacred lands of Magic Mosses or the territory of Nightshift Forest, a place that escapes the sun's rays.

To preserve these places, you must fight Shogun X, a warrior demon collecting spiritual energy. However, if you manage to bring him down, the reward will be worth your expectations. Indeed, you will recover his medallion which grants you infinite stamina and renders you invisible during sprints.

An ever-richer gameplay

As tradition dictates, the arsenal will be enriched with the typhoon blade, a melee weapon that allows, thanks to its lightness, to sprint faster while consuming less stamina. Of course, firearms are not left out. In addition to traditional weapons that will have a direct impact, players will be able to wield seven more futuristic firearms, including the holosouffleur assault rifle, the sentinel shotgun, and the Oni shotgun.

To encourage players to vary their pleasures, skill quests will be part of the game. By completing them, you can purchase the legendary version of weapons. A hint of magic sneaks into the game with power masks to be retrieved from defeated lesser demons. For example, you can send flaming guided projectiles with the Fire Oni mask or teleport with the Void Oni mask. In the same idea, spirits are scattered across the island. By finding them, you will have access to some unique benefits, including a healing fountain or a redeployment vortex.

The new features are pouring in with this season as developers integrate the Rogue motorcycle and add new moves. The gameplay is enriched by adding ledge jumping, landing roll, wall bounce, and wall rush. Enough to smooth out the movements by giving a welcome Parkour side. Finally, in addition to the Battle Pass (available until February 21) with some appreciable collaborations (including Baymax, the Disney hero), this Chapter 6 Season 1 introduces the simple modification function. Activated via settings, it simply allows you to modify your constructions with a single press. Enough to automate this aspect to welcome newcomers. Last but not least, the January Battle Pass quests will offer the opportunity to unlock the evolved Godzilla outfit.
