Since its creation, Fortnite has been constantly evolving and enriching itself. The developers regularly renew the experiences through updates, including Seasons. For example, the recent Season 1 of Chapter 6 brings a whole content dedicated to Japanese culture. But for the nostalgic, the beginnings of the franchise seem distant... Epic Games has come up with a great idea to play on the nostalgia strings while trying to attract new players. This idea is Fortnite OG.
Modernized Back to Basics
This December 6, 2024, will be a big day for the Fortnite community. This day will be marked by the release of Fortnite OG Chapter 1 - Season 1. The good news is that this OG experience, which marks a return to the roots of the franchise, will be available forever. It's the nice surprise of this year's end, the experience will evolve on its own, independently of the current Battle Royale mode.
Fans will be able to relive their beginnings with the franchise by exploring the original map again and retrieving the original loot. It will also be an opportunity for newcomers to jump on the bandwagon to start the experience, before perhaps exploring other parts related to the franchise. Of course, the content of Fortnite OG will be subject to a season system to evolve over time. However, the management of the seasons will be different since they will be shorter. Season 1 will notably end on January 31.
If Epic Games promises to recapture the sensations of the past, the developers have still kept some adjustments to maintain a modern aspect to the gameplay. Thus, unless you opt for the Zero Build mode, the building mechanics follow those of the current Battle Royale mode. Similarly, the movements are modeled on those of Chapter 5 (thus without the novelties of Chapter 6).

The Card of Nostalgia
You will be able to sprint, slide, climb, move while consuming healing items, or even break down doors. Sniper scopes will emit a glint to identify them more easily, and reboot vans will be included. The developers also indicate that they have set the building resource cap at 999 and have retained the double pump technique.
Despite this, the return to the roots will not be altered as fans will indeed be able to find the 2017 map, with all the elements placed exactly where they were over 7 years ago. Likewise, the loot is exactly identical to that of 2017, with additional weapons and items arriving over the seasons. The Ranked mode is obviously considered but will only be offered later.
