Stranger Things is a strong license in Netflix's catalog. Even though the event series has ended since January 1, 2026, with the Duffer brothers having confirmed that no Season 6 will see the light of day, the streaming platform plans to develop spin-offs to continue riding on its success. The proof, on April 23, 2026, an animated series called Stranger Things: Tales from '85 was released. A few days later, Netflix officially announced Season 2.

A success, a sequel, everyone is happy

Stranger Things: Tales from '85 is an animated series set in the universe created by Matt and Ross Duffer. More precisely, the story takes place between the events of Seasons 2 and 3 of the main series. Eleven, Dustin, Max, Mike, Lucas, and Will are back in a drawn version that echoes productions from the 80s. However, the visual remains very modern to tell this winter story set in 1985 and full of surprises... We won't say more to avoid any spoilers, but we can only encourage you to discover this series with undeniable qualities. In any case, it is a success since it has climbed to the seventh place in Netflix's top 10 broadcasts from its debut. Better yet, it is even in the Top 15 of the best starts for an animated series.

As a result, it didn't take long for the streaming platform to officially announce the arrival of a Season 2. After all, without saying too much, some elements at the end of the first season clearly suggested that a sequel could see the light of day. No more need to place bets or make hypotheses, the second season will be broadcast on Netflix, and this, as early as this fall. The wait will therefore be relatively short. Eric Robles, the showrunner also known for The X's, Fanboy and Chum Chum, Glitch Techs, took the opportunity to say a few words about the project.

He explains that the second season will not be isolated from the first. There will indeed be connections between the two. He says he is "excited to continue the journey" now that he sees the attachment of viewers to the characters. The Hawkins Investigators Club will indeed be back and will have to face a whole new paranormal threat coming from the abandoned silver mines of the town. Let's note that the Duffer brothers will continue to oversee the project in their role as executive producers.
