After several delays, Assassin's Creed Shadows is about to land on our PCs (recommendations are detailed here, Mac, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. A few days before this big event, Ubisoft unveils a twenty-minute video to perfectly illustrate one of the great strengths of this installment, namely the ability to approach situations differently depending on whether you play as Naoe or Yasuke.

Two characters, one situation, two approaches

With Assassin's Creed Shadows, Ubisoft is playing a very big card at the beginning of the year. Not only is the release of a new game in the Assassin's Creed franchise an event in itself, but this new installment also takes place in Japan, a destination long requested by fans. To maximize their chances, the developers have designed gameplay offering a certain freedom depending on the character you embody.

Thus, by stepping into the shoes of Naoe, the imaginary daughter of the legendary shinobi Fujibayashi Nagato, players can explore the path of infiltration. Agile, she can move across rooftops and play the stealth card to achieve her objectives, while performing quick and efficient assassinations thanks to her hidden blade. Speed will also be one of her assets, as well as her skill in using the grappling hook. However, this will not prevent her from finding herself in situations requiring direct action.

Conversely, by embodying Yasuke, it is the path of action that awaits us. This samurai is muscular and imposing. He can use his strength to lift heavy objects or break down armored doors. Nevertheless, he is not stuck to the ground and can also move at heights. Despite this, his build and weight do not allow him to move with Naoe's stealth. However, he can still gain some height to eliminate enemies from a distance using his bow. He can also advance while crouching to hide in tall grass and attempt some silent executions. Of course, our samurai will be more comfortable with frontal combat, allowing him to showcase all his fighting skills. Battles against multiple enemies do not frighten him, quite the contrary.

To allow all players to fully understand the specifics of each of these two characters, Ubisoft has unveiled a twenty-minute walkthrough showing the different approaches one can adopt to explore the Nijo Palace. The whole is commented by Simon, the associate director of the game.

Presentation of the Deluxe digital edition

Finally, let's remember that Assassin's Creed Shadows will be available from March 20 and several editions are available for pre-order. Among them, there is the Deluxe digital edition which also had a small video presentation. For one minute, we can appreciate the two packs that will accompany the base content. We start with the Sekiryu Double Pack which will add equipment and weapons for the two playable characters. We end with the Sekiryu Hideout Pack which will offer hidden cosmetic products and 5 mastery points. The trailer also reminds us that anyone who pre-orders the game will have access to the bonus quest “Left Behind” which will be available from launch, as well as the Awaji Hunt extension which promises more than 10 additional hours of gameplay.
