MWIII saison 2
Call of DutyFeb 2, 20245 min read

The Season 1 of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III will end in a few days, as will that of Call of Duty: Warzone, but rest assured, this is only to make way for Season 2. Let me tell you, this one promises substantial content including four new 6v6 maps (one of which is remastered), two map variants, a new map for the War mode, five game modes, and the return of the Fortune's Keep map in CoD Warzone, not to mention the integration of new weapons, the arrival of Keres, and the introduction of a new story mission in the Zombies mode. The content will be deployed from February 7th, with some elements available at the launch of this Season 2 and others arriving along the way.

Four new 6v6 maps

To renew the interest of players in multiplayer, there's no secret, you need novelty, especially on the playgrounds. That's good, Season 2 of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III is going to add four maps, three new and one remastered. From the launch, it will be possible to discover Departures, a medium/large-sized map that will allow you to explore the Zakhaev International Airport. For comparison, the map is announced to be larger than Terminal. Still on February 7th, the development studio will add Stash House, a much more compact map that will favor constant firefights. Additionally, at the launch of this Season 2, we will be entitled to a third map, Vista. Head to the top of a Brazilian mountain to discover a station accompanied by its gift shops, restaurants, and trams. Finally, to conclude with the new Core 6 vs 6 maps, we can note that the map Das Haus, from Call of Duty: Vanguard, will arrive mid-season in a remastered version.

Two 6v6 map variants, a map for War mode

During the season, the Terminal map will offer a variant named Airborne in which an unknown origin epidemic has covered the walls, floors, and other elements with disgusting alien-origin pustules. As for the Skidrow map, it will have a variant called Skidgrow, offering a more vegetative version. Grass has grown through the concrete, mold covers every corner, and thick ivy partially masks the decrepit walls.

On the War mode side, players will be able to discover the map Operation Tin Man, starting February 7th. One team will be dropped on the roof of a skyscraper and must make their way down the structure by activating control points and using explosives, while the other team must defend the whole. For information, this new map takes place in downtown Urzikstan and recalls the Overwatch map from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 of 2011.

New Game Modes

You are probably familiar with the Gun Game mode and the Team Deathmatch mode. You take the rules of these two game modes, mix them, and you get Team Gun Game, a new game mode that will be available with the arrival of S2. More specifically, each player will start with the same weapon. You need to eliminate opponents to earn points and, if the count allows, start the next round with a new weapon. The peculiarity here is that the team will share the points, so it will be up to the team to make ten eliminations to access the next weapon (five eliminations to win the game in the last round). Your team must reach 75 points by handling the eight available weapons. A small twist, a knife kill or a finishing move will cause the team that suffered it to lose a point. The Snipers Only mode lives up to its name as it will only allow the use of sniper rifles in Team Deathmatch or Domination mode. The Hordepoint mode takes the challenge offered by Hardpoint and adds an undead enemy, with a few elite zombies as a bonus. If you played Call of Duty: WWII in 2017, you know what it's about.

Mid-season, the Juggermosh mode will be introduced. It is a third-person mode variant that allows Juggernauts to compete in Domination, Hardpoint, and Confirmed Kill modes. You need to secure the powerful OHK, a one-hit-kill weapon, in the middle of the map, and aim precisely at the enemies' heads to increase the damage caused. The Bounty mode, which will also be added mid-season, will follow the rules of Team Deathmatch and add a peculiarity: the player who makes the most eliminations will be marked as the high-value target. Eliminating them will earn additional points as a reward.

Zombies Will Not Be Left Out

With Season 2, players will be able to continue the Dark Aether narrative arc and discover new secrets from the exclusion zone. You will embark on a new scripted mission, unlock new challenges to tackle, and, of course, recover some new blueprints, including Mags of Holding, which will eliminate the need to reload your weapon. Finally, it will be the opportunity to encounter Keres. Deadly, she specializes in chemical weapons. Suffice it to say that to approach her fortress, you would do well to equip yourself with a gas mask. Note that all the new features of the zombie mode will be available during the season and not at its launch.

Weapons, Operators, and More

Thanks to the Battle Pass, you will be entitled to some new features, starting with two weapons (BP50 and RAM-9), the operator Kate Laswell and Rick Grimes, a character from the The Walking Dead franchise. . Later in the season, it will also be possible to play with Michonne or enjoy elements in tribute to Dune: Part Two, namely the Harkonnen Tracer pack and the Dune: Rule of Fate event. Other elements will also be part of it, including the event The Walking Dead: Fear the Living.

The Warzone evolves

We are focusing on the Resurgence mode with the return of Fortune’s Keep. This Call of Duty: Warzone map imagined by High Moon Studios was deployed in June 2022 during the fourth season of CoD Vanguard. It will return during this season 2 of CoD MWIII in a reworked version that will offer some surprises to those who have already played it. There will be eleven points of interest to (re)discover. In terms of gameplay, note the presence of zombie nests that must be eradicated (spoiler alert: they infest the island) and the addition of three extendable bridges that can be extended or retracted depending on the situation. Be careful, when they are retracted, they form a ramp that allows vehicles to launch into the air.
