We keep repeating it in our Metropolis Chronicle columns: if a multiplayer video game manages to endure over the years, it is thanks to its community but also to the development team that constantly renews the experience. In the case of Fortnite, renewal is the very engine of Epic Games. The proof, a brand new ranked mode arrives today. Number of people per match, victory conditions, etc., we tell you everything.
Don't give up to win
The years go by and Fortnite is still among the most played games of the moment. Epic Games puts a lot of heart into it. The development team notably ensures to renew the experiences, as with the Fortnite Festival or a few months ago with the integration of the temporary Delulu mode which removed building elements. The goal is simple: to renew the interest for players accustomed to the license, while trying to attract new players. Moreover, last March 19, Epic Games signed the return of Fortnite on the Google Play Store and took the opportunity to launch Chapter 7 Season 2, namely Showdown. Without waiting for the launch of the next season, the studio is already deploying a new feature.
Fortnite Arenas, that's its name, is a new ranked mode that gathers 16 people in the same match. In the game, it's either every player for themselves, or 8 duos competing. As you can see, we are in a more intimate setting, far from the 100 players gathered in Battle Royale. This also means that the confrontations are faster, more intense, and no less stressful. In this new mode, the ultimate goal is to be the first to win 20 battles solo or be the first duo to win 15. To achieve this, you have to chain the rounds in 1v1 or 2v2 while trying to win as quickly as possible. Indeed, after each round, you are immediately placed in the queue for the next one. This means that the more rounds you chain, the more opportunities you have to score points and thus achieve the goal.
Two new features accompany this game mode. The first is the integration of new quests that ultimately allow you to unlock the Cracked Blueprint Spray and the Builder's Crest Back Bling. The second is the ability to invite friends or anyone from the Showdown Leaderboards for a singular combat showdown. Said individuals are then added to your group before launching an unranked solo challenge. In this context, the victory condition is simple: you must be the first to accumulate seven eliminations.
