In just under two months, on May 19, Forza Horizon 6 will arrive on PC and Xbox Series X|S. The PlayStation 5 will also be served, but players on Sony's platform will have to wait a little longer as the Redmond company specified earlier this year. While the question of whether the game will run well on their machine is not a concern for those enjoying it on consoles, it is on everyone's lips for those playing on PC. Xbox is therefore addressing this now by revealing the specifications.
From Minimum to Extreme RT: Configurations and Concessions
For Westerners, Japan is a dream destination that fuels many travel fantasies. It is also an island country that serves as the setting for several video games, always bringing a welcome touch of poetry. Between the cherry blossoms, Mount Fuji, and the bustling streets of cities like Tokyo, there is a diversity of landscapes that are a feast for the eyes. It's fitting, then, that Japan is the chosen destination for Forza Horizon 6. Given the care Playground Games has put into previous titles, it's logical to think that this new installment will aim to dazzle the eyes. The big question that follows is simple: "Can my PC run the game?".
Rather than letting people panic until the last minute, Xbox has preferred to take the lead by unveiling a visual that couldn't be clearer. It addresses key points, presenting four different configurations to run the game with more or less concessions. In any case, you need to have a PC running Windows 10 or 11 version 22H2 at least. It is also imperative to install the game on an SSD, or even on a NVMe SSD for optimal performance.
As often, the differences will therefore be on three major points: the CPU, the GPU, and the RAM. To run the game with Low graphics aiming for 1080p display at 60 frames per second, you need at least 16 GB of RAM with an Intel Core i5-8400 or an AMD Ryzen 5 1600 coupled with a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650, an AMD Radeon RX 6500 XT, or the Intel Arc A380.
To play with "high" graphics and a higher resolution at 1440p, it is necessary to opt for an Intel Core i5-12400F or an AMD Ryzen 5 5600X coupled with a NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Ti, an AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT, or the Intel Arc A580. The recommended configuration also indicates a minimum of 16 GB of RAM. To enjoy a 4K rendering with Extreme graphics, a more powerful configuration is needed. Besides a NVMe SSD instead of an SSD, you then need 24 GB of RAM, an Intel Core i7-12700K or an AMD Ryzen 7 7700X coupled with a NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti or an AMD Radeon RX 7900XT.
As for those who also want to enjoy Ray Tracing effects, an additional 8 GB of RAM is needed to reach a total of 32 GB. On the CPU side, you should opt for at least an Intel Core i7-12700K or an AMD Ryzen 7 7700X. This is to be paired with a NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Ti or an AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT on the GPU side. Now that this point is clarified, all that remains is to wait until the release to play, knowing that the title will also be playable on Steam Deck or Xbox ROG Ally. To allow more players to enjoy it, Forza Horizon 6 will be included in the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate from its release. It will be Xbox Play Anywhere and even accessible via the Cloud. As a bonus, those opting for the Premium edition will have a four days early access.
