Season 2 of League of Legends 2025 begins

Patch 25.09, which marks the opening of this second half of the competitive year, redraws the game map - literally and symbolically. The Rift is adorned with pastel shades and floral patterns, accompanied by a new immersive soundtrack. The visual atmosphere lives up to Riot's ambitions: that of an immersive festival, imbued with serenity, history, and spiritual magic.

Atakhan changes form

But don't be fooled by this gentle appearance. Beneath the petals hides a major gameplay overhaul, the result of months of community listening and mechanics analysis. Atakhan, an emblematic figure of the past season, returns in a new form: Flayed Atakhan. Gone are the voracious and calamitous versions, Riot opts here for a single incarnation, more readable, more strategic. This epic boss still generates its famous blood roses on the map, but the reward dynamic has been revised. The team that manages to defeat him will see all unrecovered roses instantly converted into spiritual petals, granting a powerful Spiritual Purification buff.

Brawl: the new game mode

And that's not all. One of the highlights of this season is undoubtedly the arrival of the new game mode "Brawl," scheduled for patch 25.10. Inspired by the spirit of ARAM, but on a new map located in Bandle, this 5v5 mode without turrets or classic objectives is based on relentless and intense skirmishes.

A new champion

Finally, it is impossible not to mention the highly anticipated appearance of Yunara. Still shrouded in mystery, this new Ionian champion will make her entrance during act 2 of the season. According to some leaks, she might take on an ADC or support role, but nothing has been confirmed.
