2024 season of League of Legends and Arcane S2 revealed

League of Legends saison 14
League of LegendsJan 11, 20243 min read

Who says new year, says new things. League of Legends is no exception to the rule for the greatest delight of the players of this MOBA. New champions, additional skins, launch of Arcane Season 2, gameplay evolution, return of Arena mode, or even integration of the Vanguard anti-cheat system, let's take a look at everything planned for 2024!

A new season, an exclusive cinematic

The fourteenth season of League of Legends is now officially launched. To mark the occasion, Riot Games offers an exclusive cinematic over 4 minutes long created in collaboration with Unit Image and Ben Hibon. A nice gesture that also aims to remind that this year will be marked by the game's 15th anniversary!

Arcane Season 2 scheduled for November

Patience will be required before enjoying Arcane Season 2, but you can already note that it will arrive in November 2024. In the meantime, during the year, it's Ambessa Medarda who will join the Rift. If the name sounds familiar, it's because you might have seen her in the first season.

Smolder ignites LoL, revised Champions

Smolder, an adorable flaming dragon, has just joined the Rift on the PBE. It is an ADC that the developers wanted to be easier to play, as evidenced by the words of Rob "Riot KingCobra" Rosa on the presentation page of this new marksman. In addition to this new feature, developers are working on the visual update of several Champions, starting with Skarner who will arrive during the first half of 2024. Next, it will be the turn of a Champion featured in Arcane who will receive a visual update to better match their representation in the series. Finally, Shyvana will also get a makeover. New skins for Rammus and Olaf have already been announced.

Adjusted gameplay

It is well known that to last, one must evolve and bring novelty to continue to create interest. The teams at Riot Games have therefore worked to create new enemies, the Void larvae. They have also rethought the Rift Herald to give it an appearance more in line with that of the larvae, and added dynamic music in addition to various adjustments on the map. As a bonus, with a right click, the user or an allied Champion can ride the Rift Herald. Baron Nashor also gets a visual overhaul but not only that... The latter has been reworked to offer three variants, the hunting baron (does not modify the pit), the territorial baron (raises a wall in front of the pit), and the omniscient baron (creates a tunnel by closing the front of the pit and digging two openings). Finally, the infernal dragon has also been completely revised and corrected.

A revamped game system, anti-cheat and more

For this new year, the development studio has decided to review the way players' skills are evaluated by the ranking system, in order to reduce the number of situations associating players of very different ranks. The champion mastery system will also be revised by the end of June. In an online game, there is nothing worse than cheaters. Riot Games has decided to fight firmly against them by integrating the Vanguard solution into LoL. Thus, if a bot or cheater is detected, the game will end and the players will recover their LP. Finally, we can note that the Arena mode will return during the first half of this year. It will host sixteen players, or eight teams of two. Later, another mode will be part of it, with the studio promising a different approach to spend a more relaxed time with friends.
