Rainbow Six Siege X célèbre son arrivée en vidéo
Rainbow SixJun 11, 20253 min read

December 1, 2025, will be a big day for Ubisoft and for the players of Rainbow Six Siege as the game will celebrate its tenth anniversary. A rare longevity in the video game universe that deserves to be highlighted. To mark the occasion, Ubisoft announced last month Siege X, a major update drastically evolving the experience. To accompany its recent deployment on June 10, 2025, the French publisher unveiled a launch trailer. An opportunity to remind what the said update brings.

A major addition to renew the pleasure

Even before talking about the content of the update, this year 2025 marks a major turning point in Ubisoft's commercial strategy. Indeed, since yesterday, everyone can access the game for free, whether on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, or even Amazon Luna. Specifically, this free access provides access to Standard, Quick Match modes, and the new Dual Front. 26 agents can be played. Those who want more, especially in terms of agent choice or who wish to unlock the Ranked mode by progressing to level 50, can opt for the Premium offer.

As indicated, the Dual Front mode makes its appearance with Siege X, bringing with it the new map District. The latter offers 6 versus 6 matches during which teams must protect their sectors while capturing those of the opponents. Thus, the game mode blurs the line between attackers and defenders. To allow everyone to adapt their strategy in real-time, the developers give the opportunity to change operators during the game, at a respawn. Enough to emphasize attack or defense depending on the situation. To spice things up, optional neutral sector missions are offered. However, be careful, these are limited in time.

An experience that reinvents itself

Rainbow Six Siege X also gives a nice facelift to five famous maps. Thus, Bank, Café, Chalet, Clubhouse, and Border gain in resolution and benefit from new lighting and new shadows. The work will continue throughout the year with the modernization of three maps each season. The audio is not left out as Ubisoft has completely reworked sound propagation and reverberation. This allows for a more realistic rendering that gives sharp ears the opportunity to determine the location of the origin of sounds, even the room from which they come.

And that's not all as the gameplay also gets its improvements. The update thus adds new destructible elements. Agents can now interact with metal detectors (which will emit a sound when an agent passes), fire extinguishers (to release a cloud of smoke), or even gas pipes (release flames or explode when damaged). Far from a small realistic detail, these interactions add a strategic aspect to the gameplay, just like the improvement of the rappel system. Thanks to the latter, players can move horizontally while sprinting along walls. It is also easier to manage movements at the corners of buildings.

Finally, the deployment of the update is accompanied by the launch of Year 10's Season 2. Named Operation Daybreak, it adds several balancing elements. While the details can be found on the Ubisoft site, it is especially noted that the major asset of this operation is the rework of Clash. Defense enthusiasts will appreciate being able to place her AEE shield on the ground, offering more mobility to the agent.
