Recap of the Xbox ShowCase

Retour sur le Xbox ShowCase
XboxJun 12, 20234 min read

Hello everyone, this is Quill from Metropolis Chronicle. Today I'm going to talk to you about the Xbox ShowCase that took place a few days ago. During the ceremony, many announcements were made for our greatest pleasure.

So a real success or a flash in the pan?

I'm going to start by talking about my feelings about the course of this ceremony and its pace. Let's be honest, the latest announcements made by Microsoft have not been the most successful. Many of them were boring and empty of content. So it was with some apprehension that I was about to discover all this. A small but significant detail, it was associated with Bethesda (acquired a few months ago by the American company) that the conference was held.

As often, we had the right to a few words from Phil Spencer who concluded his speech with a “see you soon” in French please. This did not fail to elicit reactions from the fans present at the Gaumont Élysée cinema on the occasion of this show. I will not give you a chronological and monotonous list of the various announcements here but will mainly talk about those that I liked or were marked by. Let's start with one of the most anticipated exclusive titles of the console.

Fable

Microsoft hit hard by giving us great news about a game whose three previous installments have accompanied many of us. Because it is with Fable that this conference opened. An interesting thing to know. The images shown during this presentation were in-game images extracted from an Xbox Series X.

Star Wars: outlaw

Another new game in the Star Wars universe, you might say? Not wrong when you know that over the past three years, no less than nine titles have been released. For this new title, we were treated to a beautiful trailer, thus raising the enthusiasm of the players a notch.

Star Wars: Outlaws will arrive in 2024 (no more precise date at the moment). It is Massive Entertainment that is in charge of development.

Sea Of Thieves

It's not the most amazing announcement, but it's one of those that pleased me the most. I am really a fan of Sea of Thieves. Sailing the seas on your pirate ship surrounded by friends and setting out to conquer buried treasures and other sea monsters. Boarding enemy ships. Trying to sink them while managing to steal their loot! This has given me many hours of gameplay. The game is available on Xbox (all generations) and included in the Xbox Game Pass.

Finding Guybrush Threepwood, Elaine Marley, and the infamous LeChuck in a DLC is something that will bring a nice renewal to this game released in 2018. However, a little more patience is needed as this update will hit the seven seas on July 20, 2023.

Forza Motorsport

Xbox took the opportunity to offer us a new trailer of one of these visual gems with Forza Motorsport. It's one of the flagships of the American company. All we know now is that the game will arrive next October. Of course, its Day One availability in the Game Pass is beyond doubt.

Flight Simulator 2024

A visual gem can hide another with Flight Simulator 2024. Do I still need to introduce this must-have of flight simulation? This new opus will highlight aviation professions. You will be able to pilot firefighter helicopters, a cargo plane, or even water bombers.

Alongside, a Dune DLC was also unveiled. It will allow players to fly aboard a dragonfly.

33 Immortals

Developed by Epic Games, 33 Immortals is a multiplayer game. You will embody a damned soul and try to overcome God's judgment. Between battles and cooperation, the game will immerse you for many hours. No release date is announced yet.

Starfield

Let's conclude this article with what we are all waiting for:

You surely know it, this Xbox Showcase was largely dedicated to a Grand overview of Starfield which will arrive on Xbox Series and PC on September 6th. It will also be available on Xbox Game Pass day one. I have been following the development of this game since E3 2018 when it was first presented. A real hype seized me at the time of its announcement. But a bit like a soufflé, the long wait calmed the impatience I was nurturing. So it is with immense happiness and infinite impatience that I was finally able to discover more about it. And I must say I was not disappointed.

The game is going to be incredible! An open world (I am a big fan) not in a lost land nor even in a region or a country. No! It is indeed in an entire universe that the action will take place. Infinite customization mods, choices, possibilities… Everything is made to give the player the best possible experience. The developers took the opportunity to unveil a dedicated controller and also a headset that are already available on the Xbox Store.

This latter will consist of a steelbook case, a patch to embroider but also and above all a connected watch. The interest? It is a replica of the one our hero will wear. Enough to give even more immersion to the player. The price? 300€. But it is a sacrifice I am willing to make.

Thus ends this review of the Xbox Showcase. I loved all the announcements that were made and am even more impatient to get my hands on all these new titles. And you tell me, which game are you most looking forward to?

That's all for now but we'll be back very soon with a new gaming news bulletin. This was Quill wishing you a good day in Metropolis.
