Call of Duty Black Ops 6
Call of DutyJun 10, 20243 min read

We learned a few days ago that the next Call of Duty will be Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. As expected, the game was given a Direct entirely dedicated to it following the Xbox Games Showcase. Its presence was even slightly stronger as this new installment currently in the hands of Treyarch also opened the event of the Redmond firm. Trailer, gameplay, release date and information, we got almost everything.

A campaign entrusted to Raven Software

To introduce its Xbox Games Showcase, Microsoft used a big cartridge, the trailer revealing some gameplay phases of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. The video is centered on the game's Campaign mode. This will take place in the early 1990s, after the fall of the Berlin Wall. Of course, while the historical context is real, the scenario will be fictional. Frank Woods and Russell Adler will return to allow all fans of the franchise to discover the events that occur after Black Ops Cold War, while having some links with the flashbacks introduced in Black Ops 2.

Raven Software, which is in charge of this solo part, wants to offer a dynamic experience through an espionage thriller. Of course, to bring diversity, players will travel from the United States to the Russian tundra, through the Middle East and Southern Europe. Within this, the studio has integrated a new Safehouse in the form of an abandoned mansion. This secret KGB site will allow you to tackle some puzzles and gather information, a crucial weapon in these troubled times.

Zombies, the trademark of Treyarch

When you see that a Call of Duty is developed by Treyarch, there is inevitably a particular expectation: that of discovering the Zombies mode. First launched in World at War and continued in all Black Ops installments, this mode has become a must. Joy, it will return in this new installment. We will therefore be able to continue facing hordes of zombies in cooperation, while trying to learn more about the story of the Dark Aether. Few details have been revealed on the subject for the moment but we already know that there will be two new maps at launch, aptly named Liberty Falls and Terminus. The Zombies mode will also benefit from gameplay improvements made to the game in general and new features that will be unveiled soon.

It's going to be exciting in multiplayer!

It's rather classic and this fifth season is no exception to the rule. To accompany its launch, the developers have deployed a new Battle Pass. This one is split into two paths, the free and the premium. In the first, you can get weapon blueprints, chest pieces, a variety of skins, but also and especially a fully automatic submachine gun. Sure, it has a retro appearance but don't dwell on that. With its good handling and high rate of fire, it can be a weapon of choice. Additionally, if you're in trouble, you can request an emergency drop sending three random point streaks to the indicated location. The premium version allows access to many skins, including futuristic weapon blueprints. On the character side, we note the addition of skins Cipher - Hacker, Isabella - Burned Isabella, Battery - BTRY-22, and Shadow of Templar - Concealed.

Practical information

Now that the urge to pull digital triggers is there, one must face reality. There will be a bit of a wait before tasting this new batch. More precisely, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will be released on October 25 on PC (Battle.net, Microsoft Store, Steam), PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. Better yet, it will be directly integrated into the Xbox Game Pass. There will be two ways to enjoy the game in advance. The first will be by participating in the open beta phase which will be free and deployed on all platforms. The second will be by pre-ordering the game to get early access.

As always, Treyarch is not working alone on the project even though they are leading it. Thus, besides Raven Software working on the campaign, as we have already seen, we can note the support of Beenox for the PC version or High Moon Studios, Infinity Ward, and Sledgehammer Games. Your dear Quill wants to finish beautifully, so if you haven't seen it yet, here is the replay of the live stream of about 25 minutes dedicated to the game! https://www.youtube.com/live/qtI25vEDx38?si=MbzFYpK7AmnBKnwH (make sure to log in with the required age to watch it)
