Win in Warzone without being the last survivor

Call of duty Warzone Covert Exfil

The announcement of the latest season brings its share of new features and Warzone is obviously not left behind. In the "Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0" mode, one new feature you certainly haven't missed is the "Covert Exfil" mode. This mode reinvents the rules of the game by allowing a unique victory without being the last survivor. With this update, 'Warzone 2.0' thus breaks its own conventions and offers players a clever exit strategy.

Exit in style

The "Covert Exfil" mode introduces a strategic nuance: players can now call a helicopter for a discreet exfiltration, thus changing the usual survival dynamics. This dramatic twist is not free. This option, limited to five uses per match and at a high cost, thus offers an alternative to the traditional tragic end of the Battle Royale. However, one should temper their excitement as this new mechanism is not considered a classic victory, but rather as a distinct statistic.

This Exfil mode was meant to represent a breath of fresh air by offering players a new strategic perspective, potentially altering the course of each game. Now, the end of a match could occur well before the final confrontation, prompting players to rethink their strategies to achieve victory.

No worries, Warzone remains a Battle Royale

These changes, initially integrated into the latest "Season 1 Reloaded" update, received a mixed reception from players, with the main concerns being that a premature exit from the game circumvented too much the basic principle of a Battle Royale.

In response to these concerns, the developers of Warzone decided to simply move the "Covert Exfil" function from the "Season 1 Reloaded" update to a dedicated mode, instead of launching it in the standard mode. Thus, Warzone enthusiasts can quietly continue to enjoy the classic game experience. Nevertheless, for those tempted by DMZ-style exfiltration in Warzone, a distinct option will be available to them.

Ted Timmins, the senior creative director of "Warzone", recently emphasized in a post on X that implementing the new "Covert Exfil" feature still presents a challenge for players. He seems convinced that it will offer players a new way to earn rewards through the "Weapon Case". This novelty also promises to create a new strategic attraction point, beneficial for the game's pace in the middle of the match.
