Few games can claim to have more than 20 years of existence and continue to be popular among communities. This is the case with World of Warcraft. This longevity is due to the hard work of Blizzard Entertainment, which constantly offers interesting new features to keep the flame alive and evolve the experience. Proof of this, almost a year ago, the studio launched the expansion The War Within (https://full.life/news/post/fulllife-universe/world-of-warcraft-extension-the-war-within). Since then, it has deployed an update on The Spectres of K’aresh, just before launching Season 3 (https://full.life/news/post/world-of-warcraft/world-of-warcraft-les-spectres-de-karesh). The next major step on the roadmap will be the release of Midnight, an expansion scheduled for early 2026 that will revolutionize the experience with its Housing system.
Build your piece of paradise
The champions of Azeroth spend their time fighting to save their world from various threats, and they have been doing so for years. With Midnight, they will be able to taste rest. How? Thanks to the new housing system, they will be able to claim a piece of land to transform it into a paradise. The good news is that it will be free, accessible without a lottery. To do this, they can build the home of their dreams with several decorative elements to be earned through progression via loot. To bring communities together, the studio will set up Neighborhoods, which will be places where players will be safe.
So put away your weapons, you won't find anyone to fight there. However, monthly activities will be part of the mix to bring residents together and encourage them to unlock themed content by completing tasks. Several biomes can coexist within a neighborhood, and everyone will be welcome. For example, you will be able to build an Alliance Housing in a Horde Neighborhood. To access these places, a portal will be required. The system will be integrated sustainably, and Blizzard promises to let creativity flow by integrating thousands of decorative elements.
New places to visit
The beauty of World of Warcraft is that our champions can regularly discover new places, or even rediscover others that have been revisited in the meantime. This maintains interest while naturally renewing the experience. With Midnight, a new main city will appear. So expect to set foot in Silvermoon, a rebuilt city that will allow you to explore several new places. Among them will be the Sanctum of Light and the Garden of Remembrance. A small specificity, and not the least, some areas will have restricted access. Only Horde player characters will be able to access them.
In addition to that, the studio promises some new areas and others revisited, such as the Eternal Songwood. This area located north of the Eastern Kingdoms in the Quel'Thalas region will receive an update. The scars of the Scourge invasion will disappear to make way for a new threat. Similarly, you will be able to discover a new version of Zul'Aman. On site, you will need to help the Trolls find their missing Loas. To this, you will add Harandar, a fungal jungle located in the depths of the world, and the Voidstorm, the portal through which the Void armies land to invade Azeroth.
Finally, PvP will also welcome two new features. The first, Murder Hill, will take the form of a battlefield inspired by the Alterac Valley and the Isle of Conquest. The second, Training Grounds, is a permanent mode that will add two battlegrounds where players will team up to face the A.I. The two battlegrounds in question are the Silver Shard Mines and the Battle for Gilneas.
Hunting and New Friends
If you enjoy challenges, Blizzard will encourage you to head to Silvermoon City’s Murder Row. You will then discover an organization led by Astalor Bloodsworn who has a passion for hunting. You will thus have the opportunity to embark on the brand new Tracking system that will take you to several areas of Midnight for some adrenaline spikes. Since it’s about hunting, it’s not surprising to see that the new allied race that will be integrated specializes in the discipline. Those who have followed The War Within have already met the Haranir, recognizable by the bioluminescence they emit, alongside Orweyna.
To accompany the implementation of this system, a new specialization, called Devouring, will be added for demon hunters. This draws its power from the void and allows for a new combination. Thus, Void Elves have the possibility to rally with the Illidari.
