After a particularly eventful December and a break for the end-of-year holidays, Microsoft returned in early January to announce the Xbox Game Pass schedule for the first half of the month. A few days after the addition of EA Sports UFC 5 and Diablo, the Redmond company reveals the big program for the end of January.

Lonely Mountain: Snow Riders
No need to wait to put on your skis, the sequel to Lonely Mountains: Downhill is now available on our machines and is also part of the Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass. Will you try to go straight down to the base or will you opt for some checkpoints to secure the descent? It's up to you! What is certain is that the title allows you to enjoy the powder with up to seven other people, thanks to the cross-platform multiplayer.
Gigantic: Rampage Edition
The story of Gigantic is quite fascinating. Indeed, this 5v5 hero shooter MOBA was released in 2017 on Xbox One. Unfortunately, it did not achieve the expected success. The adventure could have ended if Abstraction Games had given up in the face of this failure. On the contrary, it further boosted the development team who reworked their project to release an entirely new version in 2024. This more dynamic formula will be (re)discoverable from January 22 on PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and via Cloud through the Game Pass Ultimate. As a bonus, the title will also be available through the PC Game Pass and Game Pass Standard offers.
Starbound
PC players will no longer be the only Game Pass members to enjoy Starbound. The Chucklefish title, released last year on Xbox, will arrive on January 22 in the Game Pass Ultimate and in the Game Pass Standard. This sandbox adventure game gives you all the tools to become the hero of your own destiny. It's up to you to decide what you will become, from the kind savior of the universe to the colonizer of unknown planets, or even an intergalactic real estate tycoon. In short, it's your adventure, your story!
Eternal Strands
We skip the date of January 22, which is already quite busy with arrivals. We jump to the 28th. It is on this day that Eternal Strands will be released, an action and adventure game that allows the use of both weapons and magical powers. Of course, the aim is to save the world by facing various creatures. If the title has something to attract attention, besides its Day One arrival on PC Game Pass and Game Pass Ultimate, it's because it is developed by Yellow Brick Games. Behind this name are industry veterans who have worked on franchises like Assassin’s Creed, Dragon Age, and Mass Effect.
Orcs Must Die! Deathtrap
Also on January 28, another title will land on the day of its release in PC Game Pass and Game Pass Ultimate. This one is none other than Orcs Must Die! Deathtrap, a new installment in the series from Robot Entertainment that began in 2011. Prepare your arsenal and call up to three friends, you'll need to shoot everything that moves to defend yourself. Of course, you can also use traps. As a bonus, the whole thing has a rogue-lite aspect to renew the fun.
Shady Part of Me
On January 29, the three Game Pass plans will be able to enjoy a unique experience. This is Shady Part of Me, an adventure game by Douze Dixièmes that mixes 2D and 3D passages while playing with shadow and light. Even though it was released in 2020, you might have missed it at the time. Yet the title has serious assets, starting with its artistic direction and its very dreamlike universe. Plus, you can be guided by the voice of Hannah Murray (Game of Thrones, Skins).
Sniper Elite: Resistance
It is one of the big releases of this January and it is also a game that arrives on the day of its release, on January 30, in the PC Game Pass and the Game Pass Ultimate (therefore playable on Xbox consoles and via the Cloud). This new installment of the franchise allows you to embody a new character. For the rest, regulars of the license should not be too lost since it will be about shooting Nazis with a sniper, while enjoying the famous phases with the X-Ray to appreciate the damage caused by the shots. Of course, close-range combat will also be included, as well as infiltration phases. A little bonus, the campaign can be completed both solo and in cooperation with a friend.
Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector
To end the month, it will be yet another new release that will make its Day One entry into the PC Game Pass and the Game Pass Ultimate (playable on Xbox Series X|S and via the Cloud). Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector will therefore arrive on January 31. This sequel to Citizen Sleeper will attempt to replicate the critical success of the first installment. It will invite you to embody an android with a failing body suffering from amnesia. As if that weren't enough, there's a bounty on its head. To get by, it must find a ship and form a crew to explore the Starward belt. Completing a few contracts along the way won't hurt.
Far Cry New Dawn
A little before celebrating its six years, Far Cry New Dawn will try to seduce an even wider audience by infiltrating all Game Pass offers. From February 4, you can go to war against the Ravagers, a clan led by the twins Mickey and Lou. Note that the story takes place 17 years after the events of Far Cry 5, still in the fictional county of Hope County located in Montana, USA.
The titles that will join the Game Pass Standard
The Game Pass being a multi-tier subscription program, entries and exits are made according to these tiers. While those subscribed to the Game Pass Ultimate logically have the most benefits, Microsoft does not forget those who have chosen the more accessible Standard plan. Thus, the American company plans to add some titles that are already available in the Ultimate plan. Starting January 22, players subscribed to the Game Pass Standard (available on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S) will be able to discover the cooperative game Flock, the excellent action and strategy game Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess, the platformer Magical Delicacy, the very cute Tchia (only on Xbox Series X|S), or the point-and-click game The Case of the Golden Idol.
