The Xbox Game Pass is a subscription that allows you to enjoy multiple games in exchange for a monthly fee, all without commitment. The offer has evolved over the years, incorporating services, certain benefits, etc., while offering several different plans to provide a certain choice for players based on their needs and means. It has also experienced some price increases, bringing the price of the Ultimate plan (the most complete) to €26.99/month. Shortly after Sarah Bond and Phil Spencer were replaced at the head of the Xbox branch by Asha Sharma, the latter announced a significant price drop. Let's take stock.
A nice discount accompanied by a change for the Call of Duty license
Currently, the Xbox Game Pass consists of four plans. The Essential at €8.99 allows you to enjoy a selection of over 50 games on PC, consoles, and other compatible devices. For €4 more per month, the Premium offer gives access to over 200 games. To double the bet, it is possible to opt for the Ultimate offer which allows you to enjoy all first-party games from the day of their release. It is this plan that had experienced a certain increase, reaching the rate of €26.99/month. The community was rather divided at the announcement, despite the justifications from the Redmond firm.
It is therefore a strong gesture that Asha Sharma has just made by announcing the reduction of the monthly price to €20.99. As a bonus, the PC Game Pass plan, dedicated to PC users as its name suggests, drops from €14.99 to €12.99 per month. The savings made are not negligible. For now, this price drop does not affect the current catalog. All existing titles remain, with the same rotation logic usually applied. This means you can still play all the Call of Duty games present in the subscription, such as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III which was added during the summer of 2024 or CoD Black Ops 6 and CoD Warzone which were also added to the Cloud in October 2024.
However, the American company indicates that the next episodes of the Call of Duty license will no longer be added from their release to the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate or the PC Game Pass. Subscribers to one of these two offers will simply need to be a little more patient. Indeed, the new installments will be integrated into both plans, but it will just require waiting until the following holiday season. In other words, the integration delay will be about a year. A small compromise that still allows your wallet to breathe. Finally, Xbox wants to reassure that other major releases will indeed be available from their launch in the Ultimate offer.
