DEIMOS joins the fray

For the first time in the game's history, it will be possible to play an antagonist alongside the Rainbow squad: DEIMOS. The new attack operator from Birmingham, better known as Gerald Morris, is described as a formidable new force on the field.

He brings with him a gadget: the Death Mark Trackers. These advanced nano-drones have the ability to spot defenders across the map, offering DEIMOS and his team a major tactical advantage by allowing them to detect hidden targets. Deimos carries significant firepower when using the Death Mark Trackers with his .44 Vendetta pistol, promising to make him an interesting attack force in the middle or end of the round.

Mechanics that change

In parallel, Ubisoft introduces major changes in gameplay and features to adapt to the game's evolutions. Initially, the new season introduces the removal of the 1.5x scope and the classification of optics into three categories: sights, universal 1x, magnifications 2.5x, and telescopic 3.5x. Each classification allows rebalancing advantageous and inconvenient situations depending on the operators and their weapons. Accompanied by the change related to weapon attachments, it will now be possible to more precisely impact the aiming speed of each weapon.

Another major point of this Y9S1 season, the overhaul of shields illustrates a desire to renew the gaming experience, emphasizing the use of shields as a tool for cooperation and communication in the game. These modifications aim to allow more mobility in their use: it will be possible to look around (free look), reload behind the shield safely, pass through new barricades; push back enemies by causing damage and activate gadgets and throw objects. It's a fundamental change that could completely change the attack meta, which is rather utility-centered (hard breach, drones, etc.)

Another novelty, Lockers make it easier to navigate in cosmetic menus. It's an excellent addition facilitating the customization of operators. This addition fits perfectly with the Rainbow Six Siege marketplace, allowing players to trade items and enjoy exclusive content.

Rainbow Six matures

The launch of Operation Deadly Omen is announced for March 12, which is a key moment for the Rainbow Six Siege community as these new features completely shake up the game. These announcements are not only a sign of a year full of transformation in the targeted audience and the core gameplay of the game, but also a new dynamic infused. At the dawn of its decade, Rainbow Six seems to be gaining maturity and refining like a good wine. Ubisoft seems committed to maintaining the interest and enthusiasm of its community, ensuring that Rainbow Six Siege remains a competitive and dynamic title in the FPS landscape.
