The wait is unbearable for fighting game fans and those who appreciate the universe of League of Legends. Only one desire prevails over the rest: to play this new game. But everyone has to bide their time. Certainly, the project revealed in 2019 is taking its time to arrive, but Riot Games, the development studio, is keen to refine every aspect to offer a title that lives up to its other productions. To help with this task, the studio will implement a closed beta phase starting in the fall.
It's going to hit hard
Initially announced under the name Project L, Riot Games' 2v2 tag-team style fighting game became 2XKO in February 2024. After this date, communication around the project intensified, notably with a video unveiled last March to present the major developments made by the developers recently, and this for an hour. It must be admitted, it was enough to whet the appetite of versus fighting fans.
While waiting for the release of the final version, some lucky ones will be able to try the title thanks to a closed beta phase. More precisely, the said beta will be offered starting September 9, 2025, and will remain accessible until the official launch of 2XKO. A great initiative that will allow training and supporting the studio by providing various feedback so that the latter can fine-tune the game settings.
The testing phase will start on PC first. Nevertheless, Riot Games assures that players on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S will not be left out. For these, it will simply be necessary to wait a little longer for the beta deployment. Once it is available on all game platforms, progress and inventory will be synchronized across the different platforms. In other words, you can continue your game on the device you want while keeping your progress.
Finally, to participate in the testing phase, you are invited to visit this page on the Riot Games site. A small peculiarity, however, if you have already participated in a previous testing session, namely Alpha Lab 1 and/or Alpha Lab 2, then access to the closed beta on PC will be automatic. Last but not least, Vi will be playable during this beta.
