Call Of Duty saison 5
Call of DutyJul 19, 20244 min read

With two doses of additional content per season, it goes without saying that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III matches are often refreshed, and that's not to mention the additions for CoD Warzone. After a Season 4 Reloaded that notably highlighted pixels, it's Season 5 that is about to land. This time, cel-shading will be in the spotlight. New maps, variants, new game modes, crossover with WWE, etc., let's take a look at the main new features coming from July 24.

Water, sand, here are two new maps

To accompany this new season, the development studio will deploy two new maps designed for 6v6 battles. The first, Bait, will take us to the water's edge. This medium-sized map benefits from a winding layout to allow everyone to approach the battles with a minimum of strategy depending on the chosen arsenal. Will you prefer to stay on the docks? Take a plunge in the water, hide on the boat or enjoy the restaurant? It will be up to you to decide, hoping that your prey will take the bait.

With the second map, forget the paradisiacal setting of Bait. This time, you will face sand but you won't be at the beach. Yard will meet you in the Sonoran Desert, more precisely in a scrapyard. The map will adopt a small structure centralized around a crane. Of course, with various containers and several paths, it will be ideal for close-range combat. An interesting map for action lovers that has the particularity of offering a cel-shading rendering.

Cel-shading, the star of Season 5

Yard will not be the only map to benefit from a cel-shading rendering. To mark the occasion, the developers have worked on three new variants highlighting this technique offering a cartoon-like rendering. Thus, it will be possible to discover Celship, a small map which is none other than the variant of Shipment. It will be accompanied by two other small maps, namely Toonoxide (at the launch of Season 5), the variant of Rust, and Ink House (with Season 5 Reloaded mid-season), the variant of Stash House.

The WWE infiltrates the operators

During the season, starting from July 31, wrestling fans will be able to discover a brand new mode that draws its roots from the traditional Team Deathmatch. Thus, to celebrate the upcoming SummerSlam, operators will be able to wear appropriate outfits for the discipline before going to face off. While weapons can still be used to take down enemies, it will be Finishing Moves, inspired by those of WWE stars, that will need to be executed to score points. However, there are two important points to note. The first is that all Finishing Moves will be released randomly. The second is that this very specific game mode will only be available to cover the WWE SummerSlam. Therefore, you must ensure to enter the ring on time.

Who will be the COD Warrior?

Take the concept of any reality TV show based on competition through challenges, adapt it in the Call of Duty style, and you get the brand new COD Warrior mode that will be available from the launch of the new season. More concretely, three duos will have to compete in a series of mini-games offered randomly among 15 different ones. The principle is simple: winning a round grants a point, the first team to five wins the match. You must be quick and fast, as each mini-game must be completed in 15 to 90 seconds, knowing that each participant has only one life. On the menu of festivities, we will find, among other things, the need to destroy a car with a hammer as quickly as possible, a survival mini-game in which everyone only has a knife as a weapon, or a mini-game where some operators are hunters and the others are unarmed runners.

A Superstore in Urzikstan

If you've been playing Call of Duty Warzone for a while, you surely remember the Verdansk Superstore. If so, know that the one landing in Urzikstan is heavily inspired by it. It will be up to you to rush inside to try to grab new weapons, perks, or even armor plates. Of course, it will be a coveted point of interest, which means it would be better to be on your guard and study the terrain before diving headfirst into the action.

More to come

We have focused here on the major new features of Season 5, but it will be full of new elements to discover, whether at its launch or later during the mid-season recharge. Of course, we will return to the specific content of Season 5 Reloaded shortly before its deployment. Nevertheless, we want to emphasize that this new batch will also come with new weapons via the Battle Pass, as well as several additional skins, such as those of Valeria, Rhea Ripley, and Ivan, not to mention the skins of Cody Rhodes and Rey Mysterio, two WWE stars. Finally, it is worth noting that the Zombies mode will welcome some new features mid-season, including the final mission that will conclude the narrative arc.
