With Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced, Ubisoft does not just port the excellent Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag to our more recent machines. The studio reworks all the elements to offer a piracy adventure capable of surprising long-time fans, while allowing newcomers to embark under the best possible conditions. In this context, Ubisoft has enlisted Woodkid to rework the iconic piece "Leave her Johny".

Hand on heart, the pirates' song resounds

Back in 2013. Players discover the brand new entry in the Assassin's Creed series. After experiencing a piece of the American Revolution's history with Assassin's Creed III, everyone was invited to discover a new universe in the series' history: the golden age of piracy. Nevertheless, a link connected the two games since Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag allowed players to step into the shoes of Edward Kenway, the father of Haytham Kenway and the grandfather of Connor (the hero of AC III), whose real name is Ratonhnhaké:ton. Quickly, with its polished universe allowing encounters with several big names of piracy, including Blackbeard, Jack Rackham, Anne Bonny, and Charles Vane. Additionally, this installment brought back the naval battles system, while refining the gameplay.

An immediate favorite for many, AC IV Black Flag remains among the most memorable episodes of the series today. It is therefore not surprising to see Ubisoft offering a remake, which was highly demanded by the community. The development team is not just giving it a facelift. They are working tirelessly to offer a remake worthy of the name. Thus, Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced benefits from the in-house Anvil engine to display quality visuals worthy of current PCs, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Moreover, the gameplay has been revised, whether in terms of parkour, stealth, combat, or even naval battles. New narrative content will also be included as we mentioned last month during the official presentation of the game.

Ubisoft does not do things halfway, and the soundtrack also receives special care. After all, if the original title transported us so much into the universe, it's because the music drew everyone in. There's nothing like sea shanties to carry the spirit to other horizons, as if it were opening the sail with a tailwind. In Resynced, we can count on a new version of "Leave her Johny," an iconic piece by Sean Dagher, Nils Brown, and Michiel Schrey. This time, it's the artist, musician, composer, and producer Woodkid (real name Yoann Lemoine) who offers his vision of the piece. You can already discover it in the trailer below. It aims to reinvent the composition, without betraying it, giving it a more mysterious, darker, and more epic side. Of course, the song will also be heard in the game, available from its release on July 9.

A trip to Nassau?

In addition, alongside the new trailer released as part of the Summer Game Fest, Ubisoft has created a developer diary in which Matt Lewis talks with historian Dr. Rebecca Simon, a specialist in pirate history. It notably discusses Nassau, the capital of New Providence, the most populous island of the Bahamas. This has been reproduced in the game with a high level of detail.
