Next September 17, it will be 13 years since Grand Theft Auto V was released and thus as many years that fans of the franchise have been eagerly awaiting the new installment. Until now, Rockstar Games has been rather discreet in promoting the game, mainly announcing a release date for May 26, 2026, before postponing it to November 19 of the same year a few months later. After all, the GTA franchise represents such a juggernaut that many are already convinced of the qualities the new installment will have. Therefore, there is no need for excessive promotion. Nevertheless, with the release approaching fast, the publisher has decided to boost communication by planning to release three videos of more than twenty minutes each to present this new installment. We start with the first on the list.

A slap, quite simply

Rockstar Games had teased it... To present the gameplay of its GTA VI, the publisher partnered with Netflix, the streaming giant. As part of this agreement, the platform with the red N obtained the possibility to broadcast three presentation videos of the game with a temporary exclusivity of a few hours. The first, titled An Extended Look, was broadcast yesterday at 9 p.m., before landing on YouTube a few hours later. The result is a video of about 26 minutes that allows viewers to see several game sequences, get a glimpse of the visuals and activities that players can engage in. We find Lucia and Jason, the duo of this episode, participating in a mission that goes awry, before witnessing moments of everyday life.

Lucia is looking for an outfit, Jason helps her as best he can, then wanders around their house, pours himself a drink... We get to enjoy the ambiance, witness a vehicle session, appreciate some gunfights and other battles. When not engaging in rather mundane activities, the couple starts robbing vans and other stores, attending social events, or trying to escape the authorities, with the star system making its big return. Motocross races, explosions, parachute jumps, etc., GTA VI promises an unprecedented diversity of situations. It's Rockstar Games' trademark, and this first video shows how the studio masters this aspect to give the impression of participating in a more lifelike open world.

Just watch the images closely to appreciate the quality of details, the diversity of NPCs, the impressive depth of field, and all these elements that make the universe come alive. It's the GTA formula pushed even further, especially since the visual rendering is, undeniably, ultra-impressive. It's even more so considering the images were captured on PlayStation 5 (not the PS5 Pro). Of course, the game will also be released on Xbox Series X|S. In any case, the development team shows that our current machines still have a lot under the hood, while demonstrating their mastery of hardware and technologies allowing such a level of rendering. It's clear that Rockstar Games has made a big impact with this impressive presentation, and the eagerness to play it only increases.
