Assassin's Creed Shadows gets a new release date
Since its creation, the Assassin's Creed franchise has won the hearts of a beautiful community. By anchoring historical elements in the fictional universe depicted, Ubisoft has found a formula that works. It then declined it, varying the locations and eras to bring even more diversity. We even had the right to much richer experiences in content, like AC Origins, AC Odyssey, and AC Valhalla, and others more concentrated, like AC Mirage. The franchise has also evolved beyond video games, offering a feature film, three short films, novels, comics, and even two board games. This shows the importance of the franchise and the anticipation there can be around the next game, namely Assassin's Creed Shadows.
A small additional delay to improve the game
To say that Assassin's Creed Shadows is anticipated is an understatement. Besides the fact that it's a new installment in the franchise, it's above all the title that will fulfill the dream of a large part of the community since the first AC was released, namely an episode set in the era of feudal Japan. Ubisoft therefore has all the cards in hand to realize this dream for many fans. The pressure is quite high on the shoulders of the French company, which is why it does not hesitate to make difficult decisions in favor of the game, and by extension ultimately in favor of the players.
The proof, during the fall of 2025, Ubisoft made the choice to postpone the release initially set for November 15, 2024. A difficult choice, especially since the delay was three months, setting the new release date for February 14, 2025. Nevertheless, the date commonly associated with lovers will not be kept. Marc-Alexis Côté, executive producer of the series working at Ubisoft Quebec, shared a long message on the social network X to announce the news: the release is once again postponed.
Rest assured, the wait won't be too long for all that. The developers are taking an extra big month to further refine this Assassin's Creed Shadows. As he indicates, since November, the team has been joyfully sharing its progress on the game's gameplay, receiving enthusiastic feedback. While he acknowledges that this valuable feedback has allowed the teams to make “remarkable progress,” he indicates that the studio believes “a few additional weeks are necessary to implement this feedback and ensure an even more ambitious and captivating experience from day one.”
It is therefore to the developers' credit to listen to the community's feedback to ensure they offer a game that is as successful as possible from its release. So now we have to check the box for March 20, 2025. It is on this date that the title will land on our PCs, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
