Announced in 2020, as part of a partnership between Ubisoft and Netflix, the live-action series Assassin's Creed took its time. Nevertheless, the project was not forgotten. The proof, in July 2025, the streaming platform with the red N was able to proudly announce that the project had just received the green light. Since then, communication has accelerated, with the expansion of the cast this week.
Four more names
Since its launch in 2007, the Assassin's Creed franchise has grown significantly. Thanks to a clever mix of adventure, combat, stealth, and historical elements, the saga has found its audience and expanded by covering different eras. Besides video games, the lore of the franchise has been enriched through several derivative projects, including novels, manga, comics, and short films. Each game, each derivative product represents an opportunity to become even more attached to the series for fans, while also serving as an entry point for newcomers. In 2016, it was Justin Kurzel's film that attempted to give new scope to the saga. It featured the famous actor Michael Fassbender in the role of Callum Lynch.
Earlier this month, Ubisoft wanted to reassure fans: the franchise is doing great and several projects are underway. Among them is the long-awaited live-action series announced in 2020 by Ubisoft and Netflix. While it took five years for the project to get the green light, the wait shouldn't be as long before it can be watched on the famous streaming platform. Indeed, communication around the series is intensifying. Netflix has just revealed four names joining the cast.
Thus, Noomi Rapace (Millennium, Prometheus, Bright), Sean Harris (Prometheus, Macbeth, Mission Impossible Rogue Nation, The Green Knight), Corrado Invernizzi (Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, Ford v Ferrari), and French actor Ramzy Bedia (Of Money and Blood, Haunted Minds) are participating in the project. They will all play recurring roles. They join Lola Petticrew, Toby Wallace, Tanzyn Crawford, Laura Marcus, and Zachary Hart already announced in the cast. As a reminder, Roberto Patino (DMZ, Westworld, Sons of Anarchy) and David Wiener (Halo, Homecoming, The Killing) are the creators, showrunners, and executive producers of the series.
The series will take the form of a thriller centered on the secret war between the Assassins and the Templars. The release date has not yet been revealed, but there is no doubt that we should learn more in the coming weeks, likely with a first trailer later in the year.
