The Six Invitational was the event of the weekend on the eSports scene. FaZe Clan managed to prevail against Team Secret during the Grand Final in Bo5. Rainbow Six Siege was able to shine, demonstrating that it remains one of the most popular competitive games despite an initial release in 2015, thanks to exemplary support. This continues as Ubisoft took advantage of the celebration to unveil the content of Year 11, notably with a Season 1 highlighting Solid Snake, the main character of Konami's Metal Gear Solid franchise.

Year 11 begins with a master of infiltration

Among the big names in video games that have excelled in the field of infiltration are certainly Sam Fisher, the hero of Ubisoft's Splinter Cell franchise, and Solid Snake, the hero of Konami's Metal Gear Solid franchise. We mention the latter because the French publisher has partnered with its Japanese counterpart to introduce the MGS touch to Rainbow Six Siege. Solid Snake will arrive on March 3 with Season 1 titled Operation Silent Hunt. Of course, he will be equipped with his TACIT .45 (secondary weapon), in addition to an F2 and a PMR90A2. In terms of equipment, he will carry his Soliton Mk. III, a radar that displays a map of the area revealing nearby enemies. To prevent abuse, detected enemies will be alerted to the situation. As a little extra, he will have an Arming ability. This will not be negligible as it will allow recovering secondary gadgets from corpses.

This first season will also feature three maps modernized for the occasion. This will be the case for Coastline, Villa, and Oregon, which will get a nice facelift. In addition to revamped progression, the three maps will benefit from improved visuals, new lighting, and new destructible elements. The Arcade selection will allow one-on-one battles, in public. This will be available to experience between April 16 and 30. Many other new features will be part of the update, along with various balancing changes, as evidenced by this post from Ubisoft. However, we draw your attention to the fact that this Season 1 of Year 11 will be the last to give access to Dual Front. Indeed, this part of R6 Siege will be removed after a final mission designed as a nod to fans of the Metal Gear Solid series. Nevertheless, the development team assures that the technology developed in Dual Front will be reintegrated into the main game.

The outlines of the other three seasons already defined

Even though Season 1 is the subject of maximum details compared to the continuation of events, Ubisoft still made sure to clearly define the outlines of the other three seasons of this Year 11. So you can note that each Season will be an opportunity to discover the modernized version of three existing maps. That said, we already know that Dokkaebi will be at the heart of the Season 2 experience thanks to a remastered version. This will be an opportunity for Ubisoft to integrate a new weapon and introduce the new Calypso Casino map well known to R6 Vegas fans. Another major point of this season, players on consoles will finally be able to experience the game with the keyboard and mouse combo.

Season 3 will introduce a brand new operator, a Defender described as a "powerful anti-shield agent." Three other major new features will be included. The first, Operator Mastery, will allow agents to progress independently of others. The second will be the integration of a 3 vs 3 Arcade mode. The third will take the form of a Legend Division playlist. As its name suggests, this will be aimed primarily at the best players. Finally, during Season 4, everyone will be able to discover a new weapon and a reworked Hostage mode. As a bonus, a Social HUB will be deployed. It will be an in-game exchange space offering the opportunity to communicate with friends, send invitations, and manage your squad.
