Last May, Ubisoft made a big announcement: Assassin's Creed Codename Red will actually be Assassin's Creed Shadows. At that time, the French publisher stated that the game's release was set for November 15, 2024. In the months that followed, this date remained unchanged until the presentation of the environments a few days ago. Unfortunately, the plans have just changed.
Three more months to wait
Assassin's Creed Shadows is the dream of a large part of the franchise's fans. It's the installment, so much demanded since its creation, that will take players to Japan. As a result, it is a particularly anticipated episode. A little over a month and a half from the official release, the publisher made a difficult decision, they postponed the game's release. So take your calendar and note that you will be able to visit feudal Japan starting February 14, 2025. Unfortunately, you will have to wait about three additional months.
Nevertheless, this additional delay will be beneficial for the game since the teams will take advantage of it to refine the entire experience but also to improve it. There is notably talk of improving certain key features, including most likely combat and parkour. A little bonus for those who play on PC, Assassin's Creed Shadows will also be available on Steam. If you have already pre-ordered your copy of the game, you might start to panic. Rest assured, Ubisoft has taken your case into account. Pre-orders will be refunded and all future pre-orders will be entitled to the first expansion for free.
The teams know that this decision may disappoint some. But it is important to keep in mind that it aims to improve the experience, which will only be beneficial for everyone. In the meantime, at the Metropolis Chronicle, we can only encourage you to (re)watch the latest released media, like this video that focuses on the two styles of our two main characters, namely the shinobi Naoe and the samurai Yasuke. No need to remind you that the two will offer diametrically opposed approaches, the first focusing on agility and stealth, while the second will showcase raw power.
